The recent spate of injuries among professional sumo¡¯s biggest names continues unabated, with Wakatakakage the latest name added to the list.
The May tournament winner was rushed to hospital last week for two emergency femoral compartment syndrome surgeries totaling five hours in length, after suffering an injury in practice.
Wakatakakage will miss the entirety of the Nagoya tournament, and the veteran sekiwake remains in hospital with reports suggesting further operations will be required before he can be discharged.
