CHIBA ¨C Shortly before the final curtain came down on X Games Chiba, after the last skateboard had been kickflipped and the last BMX rider had gone airborne, a group of athletes gathered for a photo on the vert ramp at Makuhari Messe.
They consisted of both male and female competitors, including BMX riders and skateboarders. The common thread between them was the XC Tokyo logo found on the various lilac-colored shirts and jerseys most were wearing.
The X Games are a team sport now. XC Tokyo is one of the four clubs ¡ª alongside XC Los Angeles, XC New York and XC Sao Paulo ¡ª competing in the inaugural summer season of the X Games League, the next evolution of the X Games, which officials hope can shape the future of the action sports series.
