Chicago White Sox first baseman Munetaka Murakami, whose slugging prowess early in his first MLB season has helped reignite the franchise, will miss 4 to 6 weeks with a Grade 2 hamstring strain, the team said Saturday.

?Murakami left Friday¡¯s win over the Detroit Tigers in the third inning after beating out a throw to first on a fielder¡¯s choice. Murakami grabbed at his right thigh before the trainers came out of the dugout to check on him.

?The Japanese star later underwent imaging to allow the team to understand the full extent of the injury. The White Sox placed Murakami on the injured list prior to Saturday¡¯s game against the Tigers.?The club called up Jacob Gonzalez to replace Murakami on the roster.
