Riku Miura and Ryuichi Kihara, the popular pairs figure skaters who won gold for Japan at the Milano Cortina Olympics in February, announced their retirement from competitive figure skating in a joint statement on Friday morning.?

¡°While our competitive careers are coming to an end, we truly feel that we gave it our all, and have no regrets. We are proud of everything we went through, and feel we gained so much along the way,¡°?the pair said in the statement, which was accompanied on Instagram and X by a photo of them celebrating with their gold medals at the Milano Cortina Games.

The pair, known as ¡°RikuRyu¡± to their fans, won gold in dramatic fashion in Italy in what can now be considered a fairy-tale ending to their careers.?
