The Toronto Blue Jays reached an agreement with former Yomiuri Giants slugger Kazuma Okamoto, multiple outlets reported Saturday.

MLB¡¯s official website reported that the contract, which does not contain any opt-outs, was worth $60 million over four years, with Okamoto receiving a $5 million signing bonus.

The 45-day negotiating window for the 29-year-old infielder was set ?to expire on Sunday. If unsigned, he would ?return to the Giants of the Central League.

Okamoto, who ?plays third base ?and ?first base, is a six-time All-Star in Japan, tallying 248 home runs and 717 RBIs in 1,074 career games as a mainstay in the Kyojin lineup. He has a career .277 batting average and led the Central League in home runs three times over the course of his 11 seasons in NPB.

He posted six consecutive 30-homer ?campaigns ?from 2018-23, including a career-high 41 in 2023. He was also ?part of Japan¡¯s World Baseball Classic championship team in 2023 ?and hit a home run in the final against the United States.

The Blue Jays won the AL East and came within two outs of winning the World Series last year, ultimately succumbing to the Los Angeles Dodgers in a thrilling Game 7.

The only Canadian-based MLB club has been active this offseason as it looks to get over the hump, including signing starting pitcher Dylan Cease to a seven-year deal worth $210 million.

¡°(Okamoto¡¯s) power will be a welcome addition to the Blue Jays¡¯ lineup, but Okamoto¡¯s ability to make contact rounds out a very ¡¯Blue Jays¡¯ profile,¡± Keegan Matheson wrote for MLB.com. ¡°This lineup developed an identity of hitters who could wear down pitchers, work the count and land the odd uppercut along the way, which Okamoto seems to fit well.¡±

Meanwhile, right-hander Kona Takahashi is set to return to the Seibu Lions after being posted this offseason, MLB.com reported, adding that Takahashi reportedly had three MLB deals on the table. Instead, he will sign a multiyear deal with the Lions, but one with opt-out clauses that would allow him to pursue an MLB deal as a free agent next offseason.

The return of Takahashi, who posted an 8-9 record with a 3.04 ERA in 2025, will be welcome news for a Lions rotation that already lost Tatsuya Imai this offseason. Imai signed a deal with the Houston Astros last week.
