The Chicago Bears are planning to move out of the city, their home for more than 100 years, with the team¡¯s owners forgoing state money and deciding to build a new stadium in the suburbs.

Chief Executive Officer Kevin Warren told fans on Monday ¡ª just hours before the Bears¡¯ season opener against the Minnesota Vikings ¡ª that the NFL team plans to build a stadium in Arlington Heights. It aims to finalize the plan this year so it can bid on hosting the Super Bowl as soon as 2031.

¡°We are at a pivotal juncture of the Chicago Bears franchise to build a new stadium, our future home in Arlington Heights, which will require zero state money for construction,¡± Warren wrote in an open letter posted on the team¡¯s website.
