The fans who filled a restaurant overlooking Saitama Stadium on Friday to cheer on Nadeshiko Japan in the 2023 FIFA Women¡¯s World Cup quarterfinals left feeling frustrated, but also proud of the team¡¯s performance.

Despite the loss to world No. 3 Sweden, Nadeshiko fans applauded as the final whistle blew, sighing with expressions like ¡°daijoubu¡± (¡°it¡¯s okay¡±) and ¡°kuyashi¡± (¡°disappointing¡±) while commending the team for a strong effort.

¡°Ultimately they scored a goal, but it was really frustrating that they lost,¡± said 11-year-old Karen Kawada, who sported a pink jersey and an ear-length haircut, much like many of Japan¡¯s players.
