Watanabe Gym chairman Hitoshi Watanabe confessed that he hadn¡¯t been sure if it was right to select undefeated fighter Jomthong Chuwattana as the opponent for his own Takashi Uchiyama, because he knew the Thai could pose a legitimate threat.
In the end, Watanabe¡¯s fears were proven utterly groundless.
Uchiyama landed a monster right straight on Jomthong to end the fight in the second round, defending his WBA super featherweight belt for the 10th time on Wednesday before a jam-packed crowd of 4,400 at Tokyo¡¯s Ota City General Gymnasium.
