Forward Thomas Kennedy left one struggling bj-league team last week and is getting ready to join another struggling squad, this time in the NBL, The Japan Times has learned.

A longtime Japan basketball insider on Monday informed this newspaper that Kennedy is poised to sign with the Chiba Jets (4-12), who have lost 12 straight games. And he is reuniting with Reggie Geary, his former Yokohama B-Corsairs head coach, who is trying to turn things around in Chiba.

An announcement is imminent.

Kennedy, a University of Detroit Mercy alum, was the Shimane Susanoo Magic¡¯s leading scorer (17.1 average in 10 games), but was released on Nov. 12.

Shimane was swept by the host Ryukyu Golden Kings last weekend and fell to 1-11, the worst record in the 10-team Western Conference. The Susanoo Magic were held to 48 points in the series finale.

The 201-cm Kennedy played a starring role for the B-Corsairs last season, averaging 18.8 points per game and helping the franchise capture a championship in its second season.

Like Geary, the Chiba Jets departed the bj-league after the 2012-13 season concluded. The Jets, now in their third season of existence, defected to the NBL for the current campaign.

Chiba has had three head coaches in its brief history: Eric Gardow (2011-12), Shinji Tomiyama (last season) and Geary.
