I have written and said many times in recent weeks that I didn¡¯t believe Vladimir Putin would launch a full invasion of Ukraine. I was horribly wrong.
Here¡¯s why.
Even in his speech announcing the invasion, Putin referred to his oft-stated belief that Russians and Ukrainians are one people. This, of course, was never true ¡ª even when they lived side by side in the Russian Empire and the Soviet Union.
