But it¡¯s already clear it will take more than what Burnham¡¯s aides conceded were piecemeal moves to turn the Labour government¡¯s fortunes around. Early opinion polls show some narrowing but Labour is still behind Nigel Farage¡¯s populist Reform UK. Markets largely shrugged off the spending as small beer, reserving judgment for bigger fiscal events ahead.?
