The U.S. Department of Homeland Security on Wednesday abandoned a day-old decision to halt most immigration traffic stops after President Donald Trump demanded that the tactic continue despite the fatal shooting of a man during an enforcement operation in Maine.
A DHS official said that in line with the president¡¯s directive, the practice would?resume, effectively scrapping a policy announced Tuesday that had suspended most vehicle stops except in serious criminal cases while the agency reviewed its policies and new-officer training.
