With the current parliamentary session scheduled to end on July 17, the Japan Innovation Party (JIP) is getting increasingly worried about the fates of the two bills that reflect its signature policy goals ¡ª establishing a secondary capital and reducing the number of Lower House seats.
The Liberal Democratic Party ¡ª the JIP¡¯s partner in the ruling coalition ¡ª remains unenthusiastic about the policies, while other parties oppose them.
On Friday, JIP co-leader Fumitake Fujita and Nobuyuki Baba, a former party leader, met with Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi at the Prime Minister¡¯s Office for just over an hour.
