The Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department arrested a 24-year-old man on suspicion of trespassing, with the intention of committing a robbery, at a private residence in the city of Koganei, western Tokyo.
Daiki Kawano of Takasaki, Gunma Prefecture, allegedly entered the grounds of the house on May 12 at around 8:10 p.m. with the aim of stealing money and valuables. Tokyo police have not disclosed whether he admitted to the charges.
According to investigative sources, the house had?been invaded several times in May.
As of May 25, three men had already been arrested on allegations that they were planning to commit a robbery. Kawano is believed to be a member of a different criminal group.
Police are remaining vigilant against threats to the property, believing it is possible that different ³Ù´Ç°ì³Ü°ù²â¨± (anonymous and fluid criminal groups) are targeting the same house based on the same information.
Based on security camera footage and a forensic analysis of smartphones, police believe Kawano?trespassed together with two other people. Police are probing whether he was involved in similar cases that took place in other prefectures.
