The 18-year-old daughter of former Yomiuri Giants manager Shinnosuke Abe said in a letter released on Tuesday that she had consulted ChatGPT before reporting an alleged physical altercation with her father to the child guidance center.

Abe resigned from his position on Tuesday following his arrest on suspicion of physically assaulting his daughter. He has been released from police custody.?

According to reports, two of his daughters had been involved in an argument the previous day. When Abe intervened to break up the dispute, he allegedly became angered by his eldest daughter¡¯s response and reportedly pushed her down.

In a letter, the eldest daughter stated that she asked ChatGPT what she should do following the dispute, as it was the first time she had gotten in such a big fight with her father and did not know what to do.

The generative artificial intelligence platform told her about the child guidance center where she can anonymously consult experts, although such services are typically intended for those under the age of 18. She then made a call to the center seeking advice. However, the matter was immediately reported to the police without her being asked about how she wanted to proceed.

¡°I was the one that was most shocked when the police arrived,¡± she said in the letter. ¡°When I saw my father being taken away by the police, I broke down in tears right in front of them.¡±

She said she had a typical family relationship with her father and that she was ¡°deeply regretful¡± this incident got blown out of proportion.

A survey conducted by the Cabinet office in February found that across all age groups, around 23% of respondents consulted AI about problems they are facing. Among women between the ages of 10 to 19, the rate was approximately 52%, the highest among all age and gender groups.
