The United Arab Emirates has called for a ¡°sustained approach¡± to address Iran¡¯s full range of threats, including its nuclear capabilities and ballistic missiles, as a truce with the Islamic Republic appears precarious.
The oil-rich Gulf country is ¡°closely following¡± U.S. President Donald Trump¡¯s announcement on Tuesday of a two-week ceasefire, and ¡°seeking further clarification on the agreement¡¯s provisions to ensure Iran¡¯s full commitment to an immediate cessation of all hostilities in the region and the complete and unconditional reopening of the Strait of Hormuz,¡± the UAE¡¯s Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
Iranian attacks on infrastructure, energy facilities and civilian sites over the past 40 days across the Persian Gulf require a ¡°firm position,¡± the ministry added, citing Iran¡¯s remaining military clout as well as its affiliated proxies in the region as issues that must be confronted.
