Classes held in hospitals for elementary and junior high school students are offering learning opportunities for inpatients undergoing medical treatment. Some students are given lessons by assigned teachers in classrooms set up within hospitals, while others do so at their bedside.
Despite the physical and mental burden of treatment, students are striving to learn, with some even taking their high school entrance exams in their hospital rooms.
¡°For children who feel overwhelmed by anxiety about their future or their illness, this is a place where they can find hope and goals to live for,¡± one teacher said.
