Newly elected Centrist Reform Alliance (CRA) head Junya Ogawa sees the main opposition party¡¯s role not as a brake on the legislative agenda of Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi and her ruling coalition, but as an entirely separate vehicle that can replace the main one.
Referring to how other political parties have spoken about serving as either an accelerator or a brake on Takaichi and the Liberal Democratic Party-led coalition, Ogawa said that the CRA had a different goal.
¡°We want to be the vehicle itself, the car voters ride for a change in government,¡± Ogawa said during a TV program Wednesday evening.
