Food Bank Sendai, a nonprofit organization in Sendai that supplies food items to people in need, has been seeing a surge in the number of requests for support from foreign students.
Many such students are struggling financially, as they have to pay tuition but cannot depend on support from their family in their home countries due to factors such as political instability and natural disasters.
The food bank＊s staff say Japan must seriously think about how to accept foreign students in a responsible way.
