A fire and more than 30 cases of injuries have been reported so far Tuesday following a magnitude 7.5 earthquake that occurred off the eastern coast of Aomori Prefecture the night before.
The quake hit the area at 11:15 p.m. on Monday and was reported as being magnitude 7.6, but was later revised to magnitude 7.5. Tsunami warnings were issued across the eastern coasts of Hokkaido and Aomori Prefecture immediately after, but were all lifted by 6:20 a.m. on Tuesday.
As of Tuesday afternoon, there were reports of one serious injury and 24 minor ones while nine other cases were having their severity evaluated.
