The Bingo region in the eastern part of Hiroshima Prefecture, known for its time-honored textile industry, now boasts one of the top denim makers in the world, with Fukuyama-based Kaihara serving global brands such as Uniqlo, Levi¡¯s and Edwin with its Kaihara Denim fabric.

Founded in 1893 as a manufacturer of indigo-dyed kasuri ¡ª a traditional Japanese fabric with distinctive woven patterns ¡ª Kaihara began producing denim in 1970 after a series of twists and turns.
