Ukraine and Russia counted casualties Tuesday after trading deadly overnight strikes, as negotiators scrambled to revise a framework to end the nearly four-year conflict ahead of a U.S.-imposed deadline.

U.S. President Donald Trump has given Kyiv until Nov. 27 ¡ª the American holiday of Thanksgiving ¡ª to respond to his proposal to end the fighting, a timeline and blueprint that European leaders have balked at.

Kyiv and its allies nonetheless spent the weekend hammering away at Washington¡¯s 28-point plan, which initially hewed close to Russia¡¯s hard-line demands, requiring the invaded country to cede territory, cut its military and pledge never to join NATO.
