North Korea fired off two apparent ballistic missiles on Saturday morning, Japan¡¯s Defense Ministry said, marking the first time the nuclear-armed country has conducted four launches in a single week.

The Defense Ministry said both appeared to have splashed down in the Sea of Japan, outside Japan¡¯s exclusive economic zone, which extends 200 nautical miles (370 kilometers) from its coast.

Saturday¡¯s launch were the North¡¯s sixth and seventh missiles fired since the start of the week. It fired two short-range ballistic weapons on Thursday evening, just hours after U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris visited South Korea for talks with President Yoon Suk-yeol in Seoul, where she condemned Pyongyang¡¯s ¡°provocative nuclear rhetoric.¡± The isolated country also tested two short-range missiles on Wednesday and one on Sunday.
