Often, with the death of a prominent figure, the world may sigh and quickly move on. But the reaction Thursday felt different, more heartfelt and, at times, intense ¡ª including blunt anti-monarchist strains that pierced the outpouring of grief flowing on social media and in news broadcasts around the world.
¡°I feel like we were unprepared for it because everyone was saying she¡¯d outlive us all,¡± said William Sawtell, 28, a student of music production in England. ¡°You see her face everywhere. She¡¯s in everyone¡¯s pocket, and now we¡¯re going to have kings for generations and generations.¡±
