Japan is gearing up for a sixth wave of COVID-19, with the central government looking to roll out a bundle of new policies on Friday before winter begins.
Prime Minister Fumio Kishida on Wednesday introduced a major policy package ¡ª his first since he was reappointed earlier this week ¡ª aimed at bolstering the country¡¯s hospital capacity, expanding its vaccine campaign and advancing the treatment and testing of those infected with the virus.
¡°Pandemic response will remain our top priority,¡± Kishida said during a . ¡°A comprehensive plan will be drawn up and announced to the public by the end of the week.¡±
