UNICEF and major water and housing equipment maker Lixil Corp. announced on Thursday that they forged a partnership to address sanitation problems that put hundreds of children in danger every day.
A joint agreement entitled ¡°Make a splash! Toilets for Everyone!¡± aims to achieve one of the sustainable development goals set by the United Nations, to secure by 2030 ¡°access to adequate and equitable sanitation and hygiene for all, and end open defecation, paying special attention to the needs of women, girls, and those in vulnerable situations.¡±
Lixil President Kinya Seto said the agreement would be a boon for children.
