TOYAMA ¨C Environment ministers and representatives from Group of Seven nations began a two-day meeting Sunday, with host and chair Japan calling for ¡°concrete action¡± to implement the landmark climate deal reached in Paris last year.
G-7 nations must continue working together toward ¡°a sustainable society,¡± Environment Minister Tamayo Marukawa said at the outset of the meeting in Toyama on the Sea of Japan coast.
The first day of talks was expected to address progress on a set of U.N. sustainable development goals, such as combating poverty, as well as waste reduction and recycling. The session on climate change is slated for Monday.
