You would be hard-pressed to find a home in Japan that does not have an example of mingei design tucked away somewhere.
A tea cup perhaps, or quite possibly a flower vase or dining plate?
Since the term was coined almost a century ago, the design principles of mingei have permeated into many parts of our everyday lives ¡ª so much so that even ?100 stores these days are littered with examples.
