Japanese snack maker Koikeya has mastered the mix-two-unlikely-flavors-together strategy over the past year.
They received plenty of attention in 2015 for their ¡°breakfast fruit¡± series of potato chips, which included such flavors as mandarin orange and peach. And now they¡¯ve gone viral with Strawberry Shortcake-flavored chips (?160). But the chips themselves don¡¯t really deserve the attention: each one tastes of overly sweet fake-strawberry flavor followed by the flavor of classic potato chips.
The only weird thing going on with Koikeya¡¯s latest odd coupling is the deeply unpleasant taste it leaves in your mouth.
