In ¡°Tagusari Bros.,¡± medical examiner Minoru and detective Makoto Tagusari (played by Shota Sometani and Masaki Okada, respectively) set out to discover who killed their parents 31 years ago.
But traditional justice won¡¯t be served: Thanks to a recent amendment, their parents¡¯ murders fall just outside of the statute of limitations. So the brothers instead opt for vigilante-style revenge, soon discovering that this will prove harder?than they thought.
Up through the sixth episode, the show weaves a more traditional crime-of-the-week format into the overarching plot. Each new case links back to the one the brothers are desperately trying to solve, and the same questions are posed over and over: What does closure mean? What does revenge get you? What, really, is justice?
