Sixty-five-year-old Tawada, a Tokyo native who lives in Berlin, is praised by critics and fans for her ability to write in both German and Japanese. The trilogy ¡ª ¡°Archipelago¡± and the first two volumes, ¡°Scattered All Over the Earth¡± and ¡°Suggested in the Stars¡± ¡ª were written in Japanese, with English translations by Margaret Mitsutani.
