To commemorate 150 years of friendship between Japan and Belgium, the Himeji City Museum of Art is hosting an exhibition showcasing Belgian modern art.
Often called the ¡°crossroads of Europe,¡± bordering the Netherlands, Germany and France, Belgium has a long history of cultural influence from its surrounding nations. This exhibition charts the evolution of Belgium¡¯s own art through four sections depicting different artistic movements: realism, impressionism and surrealism. Seventy works have been specially selected for this exhibition, with most from the Himeji City Museum of Art¡¯s own major Belgian art collection.
