One of the most prominent Spanish surrealist painters of the 20th century, Salvador Dali is best known for his striking and dream-like imagery and his flamboyant mustache. More than 200 of Dali¡¯s works will be brought to the Kyoto Museum of Art for this major show that includes ¡°The Accommodation of Desire¡± and his famous melting clocks of ¡°The Persistence of Memory.¡±
One of the highlights is Dali¡¯s masterpiece ¡°Uranium and Atomica Melancholica Idyll,¡± a representation of war that was inspired by the World War II atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. In addition to his paintings, examples of Dali¡¯s early writings, costumes and documentation of his filmmaking processes will be on show.
