As a multi-talented director, Japanese filmmaker and poet Sion Sono has been a regular participant of international film festivals, garnering critical acclaim for his dark and expressive films such as ¡°Noriko¡¯s Dinner Table¡± (2006), ¡°Cold Fish¡± (2011) and ¡°Why Don¡¯t You Play in Hell?¡± (2013).
This is Sono¡¯s first solo exhibition and displays works based on his award-winning 2015 sci fi ¡°The Whispering Star,¡± which follows a delivery-service worker as she drops off packages throughout the galaxy. Through installations, visual artwork and video clips, the exhibition provides a deeper insight into the director¡¯s mind, including details of his choice of Fukushima as a location for ¡°The Whispering Star¡± and 555 pages of storyboards from Sono¡¯s 25 years of filmmaking.
