This special exhibition of the MOA Museum of Art¡¯s masterpieces, showcases some of the most prized works in its collection. As a last hurrah before the museum temporarily closes for 11 months for renovations from March, this exhibition illustrates the museum¡¯s history of art curation, looking back as far as its establishment by Mokichi Okada in 1982.
Centered around Ogata Korin¡¯s ¡°Red and White Plum Blossoms¡± screens and Kyoto ceramicist Nonomura Ninsei¡¯s ¡°Tea-leaf Jar With a Design of Wisteria¡± ¡ª both Edo Period (1603-1868) works ¡ª this exhibition features around 3,500 pieces, including 65 Important Cultural Properties and three national treasures.
