As the Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo explores Yoko Ono¡¯s experience in Tokyo during the 1950s ¡®60s and ¡®70s as part of its main exhibition, it continues a view of the capital with an eye on the ¡®80s for its concurrent contemporary show.
Curated in collaboration with the Arts Council Tokyo, this is the sixth in the ¡°Tokyo Art Meeting¡± series of exhibitions that explores the evolution of the metropolis. The contemporary works on display have been inspired by the creativity and burgeoning global recognition of Japan during the ¡®80s economic boom and include direct homages to pop artists such as Yellow Magic Orchestra as well as works by a new generation of ¡°post-internet¡± artists.
