Sept. 8-Nov. 29

It¡¯s been 130 years since the founding of Italian jewelry company Bvlgari and to help it celebrate the Tokyo National Museum is hosting a special exhibition on the history of the luxury brand.

The jeweler Sotirios Voulgaris (1857-1932) opened Bvlgari in Rome in 1884 and began producing antique-revival jewelry. It was during the 1960s that the younger Voulgaris generations decided to create the brand¡¯s own aesthetic from a mixture of various cultures, including classical Greek and Roman styles, Italian Renaissance and 19th-century romantic silverwork.

Featuring roughly 250 important works drawn from both the company¡¯s and private collections, this exhibition is the only opportunity visitors will get to see many of these luxury pieces.
