The National Museum of Modern Art, Tokyo, asks the question, ¡°What is an art museum?¡±
It doesn¡¯t matter if you¡¯re an art beginner or an expert, this exhibition has been designed to appeal to all. A total of 170 works have been categorized into 36 themes organized in alphabetical order. ¡°A,¡± for example, is for ¡°artist,¡± while ¡°F¡± is for frame and ¡°O¡± is for original. In this way artworks can be considered from varied perspectives.
Exhibits include major works, such as Marcel Duchamp¡¯s ¡°Fontana,¡± August Rodin¡¯s ¡°The Thinker¡± and Henri Rousseau¡¯s ¡°Liberty Inviting Artists to Take Part in the 22nd Exhibition of the Societe des Artistes,¡± as well as other objects and documents that help viewers rethink not only the value of art but where it is displayed.
