As the largest museum in the world, the Louvre houses some of the greatest masterpieces ¡ª Leonardo da Vinci¡¯s ¡°Mona Lisa¡± and the ancient Greek statue ¡°Venus de Milo¡± to name a couple. This show focuses on chalcographic works, such as lithographic prints, from the museum¡¯s extensive yet less well-known Chalcographie Section.
Around 130 rare pieces have been selected from the museum¡¯s 13,000 prints, which include some that go as far back as Louis XIV¡¯s reign of France (1638-1715). This special exhibition is being held exclusively in Japan as an introduction to some of the less-familiar facets of the Louvre; Nov. 15-Jan. 18.
