All of designer-artist Yuri Suzuki¡¯s works involve an element of play and focus on our relationship with sound, noises, music and electronics. As his first major solo exhibition in Japan, ¡°Playing with Sound¡± is an interactive show that offers visitors unusual aural experiences and introduces them to the creativity of making music through thought-provoking installations.

His newest creation produced by Dentaku, a London-based company he cofounded in 2013, is a ¡°musical invention kit,¡± which when wired to household objects turns them into touch-sensitive instruments. Also on display will be ¡°Garden of Russolo,¡± a collection of gramophone-like boxes that convert random noise into atmospheric sounds, and his seemingly impossible globe-shaped record ¡°The Sound of the Earth,¡± which, as the needle passes over different countries, plays various audio clips collected from around the world; Aug. 22-Sept. 23.
