Yamatane Museum of Art is saluting last year¡¯s inclusion of Mount Fuji as a World Cultural Heritage Site with this special and classic exhibition of Mount Fuji works.
The exhibition covers a wide spectrum of history and styles, from Katsushika Hokusai¡¯s ukiyo-e (wood-block print) ¡°Red Fuji¡± (1830) to the colorfully provocative painting ¡°Medetaki (Auspicious) Fuji¡± (1991) by Tamako Kataoka.
Sakura (cherry blossoms) and other spring flora, such as peonies, make up the secondary theme of the show, which includes works such as Ono Chikkyo¡¯s ¡°Spring Field¡± (1944) and Hiroshi Senju¡¯s ¡°Yozakura (Cherry Blossoms in Night)¡± (2001).
During the run of this exhibition, the selection of paintings on display will change twice, while the ukiyo-e works will change three times; March 11-May 11.
