Leonardo da Vinci is probably best-known for his ¡°Mona Lisa,¡± but as a painter, artist and engineer, he was also one of the most prominent personalities of the Italian Renaissance.
This exhibition brings to Japan various artworks and letters from the Biblioteca e Pinacoteca Ambrosiana of Milan, Italy, and includes 22 leaves from Leonardo¡¯s famous ¡°Codex Atlanticus,¡± which features sketches of unusual inventions such as flying machines and weaponry. Much in the codex shows that Leonardo¡¯s ideas were often far ahead of his time. Also on display are a number of works by the master¡¯s pupils and successors; till June 30.
