This gorgeous fellow is Hokuto, a classic Shiba with the looks and personality that make the breed so alluring to many. A strangely cat-like canine, Shiba dogs are independent and interesting but hard to get to know. If they feel threatened, they¡¯ll usually snarl and snap.
It largely seems to be a matter of trust ¡ª which Shibas don¡¯t give easily. Highly strung and strong-willed, Shibas are usually better companions for single people, couples or people with older children. The right match is key.
Hokuto is only 5 years old and weighs in at just under 12 kilograms, the perfect size for city dwellers. He had to be given up when his owner became ill but has adjusted quite well to ARK over the past year. He used to get angry when taken for walks. Now he¡¯s fine with them and has also learned to express and receive affection.
Though he may not be big on commands, Hokuto does know that he has to sit for good things to come his way!
