This pretty girl with the soulful green eyes is named Kalimba. She came to ARK when the family she had been living with moved away and simply left her behind.

After this upsetting experience, Kalimba was understandably a bit timid and cautious when she arrived at the shelter. Over time, however, she has gradually learned that it¡¯s safe to venture out from her hiding place under the kotatsu (heated table).

Kalimba now greets the staff and shows her affectionate side, especially when food is part of the equation.

Though she may seem timid and cautious at first, Kalimba has a sweet and playful personality that comes out over time.

She has the energy of a kitten and loves all kinds of toys. There is something captivating, primal and gentle about this calico creature, similar to the sounds of the musical instrument she is named after. Kalimba may take a while to open her heart to strangers, but it¡¯s very much worth the wait.

If you are interested in adopting, email ARK at [email protected] or call 050-1557-2763 (English or Japanese) Monday to Saturday (bilingual) for more information.
