It was Feb. 24 when an exhausted Hannah Chambers packed her bags and quit her job for the second time in as many years. Within 72 hours, she¡¯d be in Japan.

But, that morning, tanks rolled into Ukraine. Russian airspace closed, and the door to Japan, Chambers¡¯ dream destination since high school, slammed shut for the fourth time.

She had landed a place on the government-run , which recruits native English speakers to teach at Japanese public schools. Yet, almost two years to the day since her acceptance, she was still in England.
