Along with cars, home electronics were once synonymous with Japan＊s rise as a global power in the 1970s and 1980s. Few devices carried more prestige than the television and no maker had more cachet than Sony. For years, its products were top of the line, first with its bulky Trinitron lineup, then with its flat-panel Bravia sets, which continue to attract premium users to this day.
